Turkish law classifies an individual’s income into seven broad categories: commercial profits, agricultural profits, wages, independent professional income, income from immovable property and rights, income from movable capital, and other earnings and revenues. The category matters because source rules, withholding, exemptions, expense deductions and annual-declaration tests differ.

A limited liability company or joint-stock company is not taxed under the personal-income-tax scale on its corporate profit. Personal income-tax status, source, exemptions, declaration duties, treaty relief and credits depend on the individual facts, income year and current law. Verify the position and filing calendar with GİB’s current official publications and an appropriately licensed Turkish SMMM/YMM or tax lawyer before filing, omitting income or claiming relief. Only the taxable amount within each band takes that rate, and the employment-income thresholds differ from non-employment income at part of the schedule. Company profits are assessed separately under corporate-tax rules.
Does spending 183 days in Turkey alone determine tax residence?
No. Review the domestic domicile and continuous-presence rules, statutory exceptions and the facts of the stay. Where two countries claim residence, the applicable tax treaty may require a separate residence analysis. Citizenship, an immigration permit or a Turkish tax number alone does not settle the result.
How does tax residence affect a foreign individual's Turkish income-tax position?
A resident's worldwide income generally enters the Turkish analysis, subject to applicable exemptions, credits and treaties. A non-resident is generally assessed on Turkish-source income. Classify each income item before deciding its source, withholding treatment and declaration requirements.
Does salary withholding always remove the need for an annual return?
No. Annual reporting can depend on the income year, amounts, number of employers and other income. Reconcile payroll and withheld-tax records against the applicable annual declaration rules rather than assuming that withholding settles every case.
When are annual personal income-tax returns generally filed in Turkey?
Where required, the ordinary annual return is generally filed in March following the income year, not April. For 2026 income, check the published 2027 filing calendar and any extensions before relying on an exact deadline. Special cases can follow different timing.
Is foreign income outside Turkish tax simply because it stays in a foreign bank account?
No. The bank account's country does not by itself establish the legal source or tax treatment of income. Review residence, the income category, where relevant activities occur, applicable relief and supporting evidence with the licensed professional responsible for the taxpayer's case.
Check Turkey's 2026 income-tax brackets, tax residency, source rules, annual filing triggers and treaty evidence for foreign individuals.
income tax in Turkey for foreigners
2

post-1630","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-blog
["GET
