A legal business address in Turkey is the company’s registered headquarters address: a real, identifiable location recorded in the relevant company and tax records. The company does not automatically need to lease a dedicated private office, but it does need an address that can be recorded correctly and supported by a genuine right to use the premises.
For companies using MERSİS, the Ministry of Trade connects company procedures with official address data, including the National Address Database (UAVT). The practical minimum is therefore not a provider’s marketing label; it is a correct official address + right-to-use basis + activity-compatible premises + consistent records.
This guide explains the minimum legal-address and MERSİS/UAVT requirements. If you are choosing between physical, home, shared and virtual models, use the separate registered business address options guide.
| Requirement | What it means in practice |
|---|---|
| Identifiable official address | The headquarters should correspond to an address that can be used through the applicable official address/registry system, including the correct building and unit details where relevant. |
| Genuine right to use the premises | The company should be able to support why it is entitled to use the exact premises as its registered headquarters. |
| Activity and premises compatibility | The registered-address model must make sense for the company’s real activity and must not be used to bypass premises-specific licensing or operating requirements. |
| Consistent company records | The same headquarters should remain traceable across the applicable MERSİS/Trade Registry, tax and later corporate records until a formal address change is completed. |
| Reliable official correspondence process | The company needs a practical way to receive and act on official correspondence associated with its headquarters and electronic-notification obligations. |

A company headquarters should be an identifiable official address supported by an appropriate right-to-use arrangement.
The Ministry of Trade’s MERSİS system is used for company and trade-registry transactions. MERSİS is part of Turkey’s public digital infrastructure and works alongside the National Address Database (UAVT). For company procedures, this means the headquarters cannot simply be a free-form description invented in a contract or on a website.
Before filing, confirm the exact official neighbourhood, street, building and independent-unit information that will be used in the company record. Small wording differences in English translations are less important than ensuring every document points to the same underlying official location.
Practical rule: the company address should be traceable to one real official premises across the registry, tax and supporting right-to-use file.
Do not reduce every legal-address arrangement to one universal “lease contract”, notarised declaration or provider certificate. Depending on the premises and transaction, the evidence can include a lease, ownership document, serviced-office or address-use agreement and provider-side documents showing the authority to grant the relevant use.
The useful question is whether the documents establish:
No single document label is decisive for every company, provider or registration scenario. For the evidence to collect under a private lease, owned premises, home address or serviced-office arrangement, use the registered-address document checklist.
A company’s registered headquarters is its official company address. The place where the business actually keeps employees, stock, production equipment, customers or regulated operations can create separate workplace, branch, municipal or sector requirements.
A remote service company may be able to use a virtual or serviced headquarters without dedicated daily premises. A business that needs customer-facing operations, storage, production, regulated equipment or a premises-specific licence may need dedicated or additional operating space. The address model should follow the activity rather than the company choosing an address first and trying to make the activity fit later.
For the detailed physical/shared/home/virtual comparison, use the address-model decision guide. For LLC-specific suitability, use the LLC activity-and-premises guide.

Tax-office verification is separate from Trade Registry registration and focuses on relevant taxpayer facts.
After taxpayer status is established, GİB may carry out commencement-of-business yoklama through the Electronic Yoklama System. Current GİB guidance states that commencement yoklama is to be concluded within a maximum 15-day administrative period after taxpayer status is established. This is not a guarantee that an officer will attend on a particular day.
For a virtual or shared address, the practical file should still be able to show a real identifiable premises, a genuine right to use it, activity compatibility and a clear premises-side process if the tax administration requests information or attends the address. Provider support does not guarantee a particular authority finding.
See the current GİB guidance and the separate tax-office yoklama guide.
For a later move, use the company address change guide.
Branches, liaison offices and regulated entities can have structure-specific premises or filing requirements. Do not copy the address assumptions for a standard LLC or JSC into a special structure without checking the current rules for that structure.
If you need a registered headquarters without taking a dedicated office lease, review Workon’s virtual office service in Turkey. Workon can coordinate the registered-address setup with company formation and operational support and, where activity-specific legal, tax or licensing work is required, align the process with the appropriately licensed or authorised professionals.
Last reviewed: 13 September 2026. Registered-address evidence, MERSİS/Trade Registry procedures, yoklama and premises requirements depend on the company, activity and address arrangement; Workon can coordinate the setup and required professional handoffs according to the agreed scope.
